WHAT IS REIKI

Reiki is a system of therapy that employs hands-on, no-touch, and visualization techniques, with the goal of balancing the flow of life energy in a person or animal. Reiki practitioners are trained to detect and resolve problems of energy flow on the physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Reiki therapy is used to achieve similar effects as traditional massage therapy. It relieves stress and pain, and can improve the symptoms of various health conditions.

HOW CAN MY BET BENEFIT FROM REIKI?

Animals benefit from Reiki in a variety of different ways. It can be like a day at a spa for your beloved companion, help maintain health on all levels (physical, emotional, spiritual), accelerate healing after physical illness and injuries, emotional healing following trauma, abuse, neglect, fear and trust issues, or induce deep relaxation and stress-reduction for high-strung or nervous animals. It can also help making the last months of an elderly animal more comfortable and provide peaceful and compassionate support for the transition of passing for all concerned, as well as relief from pain, fear and anxiety.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING A TREATMENT - AND HOW WILL MY PET REACT?

Animals love Reiki and are drawn to the power and energy of it. During a treatment, they generally behave normally. They walk around the room, lie down, stand up again. Walk to the practitioner to sniff his/her hands because they sense the energy. Pets can become very calm and relaxed, sometimes fall into a deep and peaceful sleep during and after treatments. They will often push into the Reiki practitioner's hands to indicate the area they would like to draw attention to. The Reiki practitioner then will treat the requested area. Reiki will cause no stress, discomfort, or pain, and yet can yield powerful results by supporting the healing of emotional, behavioral, and physical illnesses and injuries.

DOES REIKI HAVE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

After receiving a treatment, your pet might be thirstier than usual; this is very normal. It means that the body tries to flush out the toxins and restore the full health of your companion. So make sure that you offer your pet plenty of water. In some cases, when a disease is treated, it may seem that it is getting worse before it is getting better. This effect only occurs for a very short time, if at all and also is a normal part of the healing process.

DO I BRING MY PET TO YOUR OFFICE FOR A TREATMENT?

The best place for your pet to receive Reiki is in its own environment, where he is most comfortable and relaxed in. Ideally, the Reiki practitioner would give your pet a Reiki treatment in your own home to assure your pet’s most comfort, sense of safety and protection.

DO I NEED TO SPECIFY A PROBLEM AREA BEFORE MY PET RECEIVES A TREATMENT?

You certainly can specify a problem area if you wish, however, it is not necessary to do so since the Reiki Energy automatically goes where it is needed and if your pet wishes for more energetic attention in a certain area, he will let the practitioner know by pushing his body against his/her hand.

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT LAST?

The duration of a treatment depends on your pet. When he has had enough energy, he will let the practitioner know (e.g. barking, nibbling on hands, energy flow calms down or stops, or he simply leaves the room). Generally between 30 minutes to an hour.

IS ONE TREATMENT ENOUGH TO HEAL MY PET?

Sometimes one treatment is all that is needed, but often, it takes more than one treatment to completely clear an issue; equivalent to receiving physical therapy to enhance the healing process.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE UNTIL REIKI SHOWS EFFECT?

In most cases, you can see results shortly after the treatment. In other cases, it can take up to a week to see a difference. If the problem is more underlying, it can take longer until the Reiki energy reaches the core of the problem and heals it.

DOES REIKI SUBSTITUTE THE VISIT TO THE VET?

Even though Reiki has a lot of benefits for your pet, it is not a substitute for the veterinary. It is, however, an excellent complement to conventional medicine.

CAN I BECOME A REIKI PRACTITIONER AND LEARN TO GIVE REIKI TO MY PET?

Anyone can become a Reiki practitioner. To give Reiki to animals, you should have reached Reiki Level II. It is not necessary to become a Reiki Master to give Reiki treatments.
